Over 20 years ago while on a run down one of my regular routes I came across a small sign in front of a house. I was always aware of this house and it’s lengthy frontage along the road. I had run past this location hundreds of times and admired the yard but never really gave it much thought. The sign was a “For Sale” sign. It was an obvious for sale by a private party.
I stopped, stared over the fence that guarded the properties front, and wondered. The house was an older Greek Revival style, nice enough, the yard was in need of work then, I noticed a small structure towards the rear and side of the property. Could this structure become an office location for my architectural firm?
Long story short here (to be posted in a future post) that little structure did in fact become the location of my office. It also ultimately received an Honor Award from AIA (American Institute of Architects) for it’s design. The only such award from the AIA to recognize design excellence in all of Novi.
I hope you enjoy the photos.
